Infonetic Research has released their report, ‘Broadband Aggregation Hardware in Asia Pacific’.  This report tracks vendor market-share and market-size for MSAP’s  (multi-service access platforms) and IP DSLAM’s , (IP Digital subscriber line access multiplexers) in China, India , Japan, South Korea, and the rest of Asia Pacific.

The Asia Pacific Region represents the largest Broadband Aggregation Hardware opportunity in the world with China at the very top.  The amount of money being spent on broadband Aggregation is astounding.

China has a growing middle class, aggressive national broadband initiatives and now greater competition among China’s restructured telecommunications launching premium broadband services… due to the shift in China from copper to fiber-based PON and Ethernet FTTH.

DSL is declining but this may be slowed by ISP’s deploying ADSL2+ and VDSL2 to deliver triple play services to China, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Other highlights in this report:

“Incumbent service providers across Asia Pacific are facing the same loss of land-line revenues as their European and North American counterparts “.

“Asia Pacific represents close to 1/3 of worldwide total telecom capex and over 1/3 of worldwide broadband aggregation equipment spending”.

“Nokia Siemens leads in both IP DSLAM’s and MSAP’s in South Korea thanks to their acquisition of local Dasan Networks”.

This broadband industry is evolving at a rapid pace with all regions competing to become ‘the’ global broadband leader.
